Atilingo was selected as one of the 2025 projects pitched for the Mastercard Foundation Alumni Fund.
It started with a question asked on a shoreline in northern California, and it has not really changed since.
The idea for Atilingo was born one evening during a retreat organized by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of California, Berkeley, in Bodega Bay, California.
What is the role of language in bringing people together?
Atilingo was runner-up in the Alumni Fund Pitch Competition, managed by Big Ideas at UC Berkeley. It became the basis for the company: making African languages more accessible through software.
