The people behind Atilingo

Okechukwu Iroegbu is the Program Manager at Atilingo, where he leads initiatives that bridge technology, culture, and education to make African languages more accessible to learners around the world.

He oversees program strategy, partnerships, and community engagement, helping transform Atilingo's vision into meaningful learning experiences that preserve and celebrate Africa's rich linguistic heritage. A folklorist and cultural researcher, Okechukwu is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), after earning a Master's degree in Folklore from the University of California, Berkeley as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. His work explores Indigenous knowledge systems, oral traditions, and the role of language in shaping identity, memory, and community.

Victor Inya Okoro is the Technology Officer at Atilingo. He is responsible for the technical direction of Atilingo's products.

Victor is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Digital Transformation and Innovation, work that informs how he thinks about building technology that serves communities rather than extracting from them.

Victor believes that technology should speak the languages of the people, not the other way around and that the tools built to document and preserve a language should be shaped by the people who speak it. Through Atilingo, he is focused on building infrastructure that can keep pace with the urgency of the work especially in the age of AI.
